Djarot Saiful Hidayat Officially Becomes Governor Of DKI Jakarta In Today's Memory, June 15, 2017
JAKARTA Memories of today, eight years ago, June 15, 2017, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Djarot Saiful Hidayat as the new Governor of DKI Jakarta at the State Palace. Djarot also only served four months to fill the post because Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) resigned.
Previously, Ahok had a short time approaching the 2017 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election. Ahok was hit by a blasphemy case. This condition made his electability decline sharply. At its peak, he had to admit defeat to Anies Baswedan.

President Jokowi responded to Ahok's resignation. Jokowi then appointed Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Djarot as Governor of DKI Jakarta. Jokowi also appointed Djarot as the new Governor of DKI Jakarta at the State Palace on June 15, 2017.
Djarot only served until October 2017 for four months. Or right before the elected Governor Anies Baswedan was sworn in. The politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) later became the Governor of DKI Jakarta who was recorded as the shortest serving.
"By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill my obligations as Governor as well as possible and fairly, uphold the 1945 Constitution, and carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible, and serve the community, homeland, and nation," said Djarot's oath as quoted on the Cabinet secretary's website, June 15, 2017.
